My Tampons Are Rooting for Me!

One of my favorite micro brews is Magic Hat from Vermont. They are known not just for great beer, but for putting cute (wait, let me change that to mindless) little comments on the inside of each bottle cap. Some of the beer cap mantras are inspirational in a goofy sort of way and I hang on to them if I think they will be the least bit motivational.

Magic Hat doesn't have the market on product mantras. They've got nothing on Tampax now! The other day I just happened to take a real look at a tampon wrapper and each one also has encouraging sayings on the outside wrappers (Tampax Sports). For instance, my favorite is "Don't cry, get back in the game. Focus! Focus! Focus!" What? When did happy pick-me-ups become part of product marketing? I have to admit, I was warm and giddy when I read this wrapper. It's like it was written just for me when I was down (last week when I was still unemployed...this was my first week back to work!!). How great is that?

I ran to tell Zeus all about it. His initial reaction was the same as mine, "What the hell is this? Now my tampons are cheering me on?"

Maybe it's the bad economy (which does seem to be improving btw) and people have been in such foul moods that companies have decided to cheer us up! Wow! We've gone from wanting to punch the hell out each other to wanting to cheer each other up, even via tampons! I love it. I was so happy to see a cheery little message printed on the wrapper of a tampon, telling me to get back in the game and not give up! So happy that I decided to do just that: not give up!

I think it's great, and if companies want to woo me to buy their products with inane sayings, I'm all for it. Go happy capitalism!
